We took a leisurely drive down Highway 1 from San Francisco to San Diego. A very pleasant trip, highly recommended.

We stayed in various hotels along the way. I took a lot of pictures. This picture that makes me a bit sad. I watched the father of the girl attempt to get this moment. The point and shoot cameras have a nasty tendency of lagging before deciding what they do for a living. The result is often that you get a picture once the moment has passed. I became quite good at compensating for this lag trying to predict the timing of events.

I got this picture on my first try. The sad part is that I failed to get the name and address of the family to share this pic.

I cannot imagine how cold she must have felt having being showered so often by a very cold ocean.

Story: As you know by now, our family took a leisurely drive down Highway 1 from San Francisco to San Diego. A very pleasant trip, highly recommended.

We spent Christmas and New Year on the island of Roatan, in Honduras with a bunch of friends. We rented two very large houses on a beach. It was hot and sunny. We had a little hurricane, a small earthquake, a black out, and experienced the pleasures of sharing the beach with sand flies.

I stood in front of the lane decided on the picture I was seeing. These two ladies to my left were in deep conversation. These three girls were playing around in and out of the lane. I kept looking through the camera at the space waiting for an opportunity when the firsl would be out of the line of sight.

These critters bite shows up a few days after the event. A small red dot that you tend to ignore because you have no idea where they came from. A couple of day later, the red dot starts becoming very itchy. We ran out of anti-histamines pretty quickly. Janet’s reaction lasted a few months. Peter looked like he had chicken pox.

We would take daily trips into the local villages, the main being Coxen Hole. Highly appropriate name. The main street was full of pot holes. We had rented a Toyota truck that seated six inside and as many people as you could cram in the back. You are obligated to pick up people who are waiting at the bus stops. Just the way it is. The riders knock on the roof when they need to get off. Same thing in Africa and most third world countries.

We were walking around town. I was taking pictures. I have been fascinated for a long time with parallel lines and how they define a space. The walls of lanes that lead to an exit, or create life within them. A passgeway that came together organically, or maybe was planned by someone.

Such was this lane. I stood in front of the lane decided on the picture I was seeing. These two ladies to my left were in deep conversation. These three girls were playing around in and out of the lane. I kept looking through the camera at the space waiting for an opportunity when the firsl would be out of the line of sight.

This is one of my all time favourites. You will get tired of hearing that. Those are the only pictures I display.

The drive from San Francisco to San Diego product a bevy of nice pictures.

We came across this town that looked like it came out of a cowboy film. We turned a corner and here was this town, one street, a bunch of buildings, some parked cars. We were waiting for the horses to make their entrance. We drove by this wall, and were half way down the road when I decided to go back and take the picture. It was just too tempting.

The juxtaposition of the colours on the wall with the colours of the cars. Too hard to resist.

One of my most favourite pictures of all time. At least from my library.

This is a picture of my niece playing across the street from our house in the school yard. She was running around, up ladders, down chutes and slides, around stairs, through the tunnels. All the time trying to run away from my grabbing paws, squealing away.

She found safe haven in one of the tubes. I could not climb in after her. She hid in there peeking out occasionally to make sure I was not chasing her. It took a while to take this picture. She was playing peek-a-boo with me.
