It is not clear why the door has been almost preserved. It seems to have survived in spite of the neglect imposed upon it. A magnificent door it is. The buildings it hides date from the 1500′s to the 1800′s. I am also not sure why it is called an hotel, since it appears to have never fulfilled that role.
